Dr. Austin and Bea Flint are donating $1 million to Reinhardt University toward a new theater and music scholarship. In recognition for the largest donation to date toward the theater’s construction, the new concert hall will be named “Flint Hall.”
“Every university president would love to have the kind of remarkable friends and supporters we have in Austin and Bea Flint,” Dr. Kina S. Mallard, Reinhardt President, stated. “We are overjoyed by their generosity in support of our new theater building and with this endowed music scholarship that will bear their name.”
The city of Waleska and Reinhardt University have a special meaning to the Flints. They purchased land in 1969 near Reinhardt’s campus. In addition, Bea Flint taught English at Reinhardt University during the years of 1978-1990.
“It was a family,” Bea Flint said in remembrance of her time spent at Reinhardt. “President Dr. Mallard is continuing that kind of family atmosphere at Reinhardt,” Flint goes on to say.
Dr. Flint became a member of the Reinhardt University Board of Trustees in 2016. Bea Flint is an original member of the Cherokee Chorale. She has seen Reinhardt’s School of Performing Arts and the FPAC develop.
The Flint Family will be honored during the 15th Anniversary of the FPAC by the naming of Flint Hall. This celebration is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10. More information about this event can be found here.
