Reinhardt President Dr. Kina Mallard and husband Steve invite the Class of 2018 to celebrate their halfway point to graduation this Thursday, March 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the Reinhardt President’s home for a fun night of relaxation, socialization and eating s’mores.
Coordinator of Programming and Service at the Office of Student Activities, Meredith Keating, believes the event will be a great way for students to make connections.
“I expect the sophomores to gain a deeper connection to their class and to Dr. Mallard and her family by attending a relaxed event in the President’s home,” said Keating. “Last year, over 50 sophomores attended the event.”
“Steve and I always enjoy having students to our home,” Dr. Mallard said. “First-year students have many opportunities to visit, but last year we realized that sophomores needed an event and started the tradition of ‘S’mores with the Sophomores.’ I most look forward to the casual atmosphere, sitting around the fire pit roasting marshmallows and talking about their Reinhardt experience.”
Dr. Mallard hopes that this year’s event will be just as successful as last year’s.
“The highlight of last year’s event was watching students who did not know each other standing together making s’mores and making new friends,” said Dr. Mallard. “These gathering events allow me the opportunity to really engage with students and get to know them in a more personal way than is often allowed by my busy schedule.”
